The Time of My Life
This is becoming a habit now. This thing that I wish to begin with is a personal experience or thought. It has happened a lot to me and I am sure you must have gone through this at some time.
There have been so many times in my life when my films have not done well because they were let down by the producers or the marketing team.
At such times I used to feel extremely low and dejected. A feeling of self-doubt tends to creep in. I wouldn’t deny, sometimes there is a sense of jealousy also towards your contemporaries.
This is what I learned. Don’t waste your time on jealousy. Sometimes you are ahead, sometimes you are behind. The race Is long.
Just Blame it on Time
But then, you have your support circle which offers you that ineffective dose of sympathy and the most common thing they say is –
Yes, time…
We tend to blame it on time. Or our loved ones console us making time as an excuse.
When things are not going our way when we are facing adverse situations at work. Or there are misunderstandings in relationships. Sometimes the finances are not in place.
The one convenient phrase is that – “Probably this is not the right time” “Your Time Will Come” or “Time never remains the same”.
Well, then this is surely something that we must discuss.
Someone around you is still single… While someone got married and ‘waited’ 10 yrs. before having a child, there is another who had a baby within a year of marriage.
Someone graduated at the age of 22, yet waited 5 years before securing a good job; there is another one who graduated at 27 and secured employment of their choice immediately!
Someone became CEO at 25 and died at 50 while another became a CEO at 50 and lived to 90 years. For all the late bloomers KFC is an ever-ready example that is given.
But the fact is that – Everyone works based on their ‘Time Zone‘
People can have things worked out only according to their pace. We have to learn to work in our “time zone”.
We are like machines, each one calibrated on a different scale. Another analogy could be of liquids. We all boil or freeze at different temperatures. If we go on this comparing spree, it will be easy to realize that everything in the world actually works on its own timeline.
Your Colleagues, friends, and younger ones might “seem” to be ahead of you. Maybe some might “seem” behind you?
Please note – “Seem” is a very important word here, appearances are deceptive. What seems to be true might not always be true.
I can guarantee that in most cases it is definitely not true.
Here I must quote my example:
Very recently I bumped into an old friend of mine. We haven’t been in contact for a while now. This man greeted me with extreme awe and happiness appreciating my progress and hard work and the rich man that I had become.
Well, the fact was not close to what he was thinking. His image of me was what seemed to him to be true. He was judging me on the basis of my social media profiles. But life is in fact a lot different than what it appears to be on the internet. Comparing ourselves with virtual reality is only a recipe for disaster.
The Secret Quality of Time
It’s useless to envy them or mock anyone, it’s their ‘Time Zone.’ You are in yours!
Like always let me give you a secret here – “Time has this uncanny ability to change – drastically, and this could happen overnight”
What can help in such situations is to hold on, be strong, and stay true to yourself. God definitely has a timetable for each one of us. The fact that we are not aware of it is actually a blessing. Because in most cases we would have died either of sorrow or happiness.
All things shall work together for your good. You’re not late … You are not early … you’re very much on time! And everything will happen at just the right time because,
God is never late!!!
